Yesterday I did manage to finally get past the carrier verification phase of setting up Text Replies after several iterations of restarting the phone, the watch and reloading the Pebble app. Only canned replies are available, so far.
I thought that I’d hit an unrecoverable condition on the watch when it go into the SOS screen after reset and stay there with the Pebble emblem after I’d followed the Pebble SOS recovery procedure, even though I was able to pair it with my phone. I encountered that multiple times before finally getting a successful reset and update of the watch.
I reset the phone, watch and app several times and finally got the watch to reset and update completely and re-registered with Pebble. I still don’t know which action, or combination of actions, ended up with the good result.
Maybe my registration with Pebble hadn’t actually completed successfully last week and I didn’t realize it, and that’s why I couldn’t complete the carrier verification for Text Replies or access the Pebble server.
I now have access to the Pebble server and can download watchfaces and apps!!! This is a huge step that I am quite pleased about.
I still, however, don’t have access to voice dictation or voice text replies or anything that uses the microphone. I would really like to get this function working, if possible, without jeopardizing the server access that I have finally attained.
Is there some button push combination that I can use to activate the microphone on the Pebble 2 HR? I don’t find any mention of it in any of the watch menus and I didn’t get an instruction manual with my refurbished watch.
