Welcome! To keep the Pebble Forums a comfortable, useful, and pleasant place, we ask that you please abide by these guidelines when participating. Help us promote a respectful atmosphere where people feel free to ask questions; get help; share tips, tricks, and creations; engage with each other in spirited debate; and have fun discussing everything Pebble. Here we go:

THE BIG RULES

Violation of these rules is grounds for immediate banning of your Forum account. If you think we’re kidding, we’re not.

  • No flaming of fellow Pebblers to incite or perpetuate a conflict or argument.
    • ANY personal attacks or name calling is grounds for a ban.
    • Moderators are free to issue warnings in lieu of a ban for first-time violations, but aren’t obligated to do so.
  • No spamming. Spam includes messages that are advertisements, abusive, copy/pastes of identical comments on multiple discussions, or otherwise pointless/unwanted/unrelated to discussing Pebble.
  • Impersonating other individuals or falsely representing yourself is not allowed. Multiple accounts (aka sockpuppets) are not allowed. Posting under a secondary username for the purpose of arguing, degrading, or belittling other members is grounds for losing both your primary account and your secondary account.
    • If you have multiple Forum accounts, notify a moderator about which account to keep.
    • When moderators discover multiple accounts under one user, they will contact you directly to ask which one should be kept and which one should be discarded.
    • Moderators are happy to assist with username changes for any Forum account.
  • No profanity in Discussion titles or signatures.
  • Signatures may have a maximum of five (5) lines.
  • You must have a valid email account connected to your profile so you can be reached by Forum moderators or administrators.
  • Do not discuss, suggest, engage, or encourage any illegal activity on the forums.
    • Linking to locations that deal with any such activity is also forbidden.
    • No linking or posting of pornographic or objectionable/inappropriate material.
    • Do not post messages that violate Federal, State, or Local laws which include, but are not limited to: content that violates a copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or is bound by NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Following these general guidelines will help everyone enjoy themselves here:

  • Make our Forum tools (public posts and Private Messages) work to your advantage. If you are looking to share, ask, engage, or discuss with the general Pebbler community, create a public discussion or post a comment. If you seek direct assistance from a Moderator, Administrator, or Team Pebble member, sending a direct Private Message (PM) is more effective than creating a public post and hoping the person you’d like help from will see it. Help us help you.
  • Respect both Forum moderators and administrators. It is a thankless job that we do, and cleaning up other people’s messes is never fun.
  • Respect your privacy and the privacy of fellow Pebblers. Do not publicly post personal information about yourself or another user (e.g. addresses, phone numbers, passwords, etc.). Use the Forum’s PM feature to share your information directly with another user, if you choose to do so.
  • Speak for yourself. Limit your posts to your individual opinions and views. We’re all adults here. No one on these Forums needs another user crusading on his or her behalf.
  • Use your votes! Help fellow Pebblers find good content and alert moderators to troublesome posts with the various voting options available.
  • Post to the Category that is most appropriate for the Discussion being presented.
  • No cross-posting, i.e. posting the same Discussion in more than one Category.
  • Please don’t “bump”, “up”, “+1” or post otherwise empty comments in an attempt to keep a thread active. Threads automatically sink in the forum thread list as people stop discussing a topic. If people aren’t posting into your thread it is likely no one has anything else meaningful to add to it (ie: the discussion is over).
  • No SHOUTING. Don’t use all-caps when psting thread titles, and don’t use all-caps or fonts larger than Size 3 in the editor when posting. It is difficult to read and annoying.
  • Refrain from excessive profanity in comments (zero profanity in Discussion titles and signatures). There are joys to swearing, if used sparingly. Posts containing profanity may be removed without notice.
  • The Pebble Forum is not the place to post personal problems, questions about personal relationships, etc. Posts deemed inappropriate may be removed.
  • Because of the volatile nature of the following topics: religion, sexual orientation, race, class, gender, and political opinion, users are advised against starting discussions or posting comments expressing thoughts, beliefs, or opinions on these topics. Any posts, threads, signatures, or biographies on these matters may be removed at the discretion of moderators and administrators.

TL;DR

Moderators and administrators frequently review forum posts for violations of the Pebble Community rules. Any content found to be in violation may be deleted without warning or explanation. Furthermore, we reserve the right to remove any post at our discretion, and also the right to ban any user, at any time, for any reason.

There are going to be topics and discussions that will have heated debates. Please think before you post and re-read what you type before you post it. Keep your comments limited to the discussion at hand and not make this a personal issue between you and another Pebbler. There is tremendous diversity in age, race, gender, language, location (worldwide), and more here. There will be a lot of varying opinions on different subjects. We’re all human beings and we’re all drawn to this site because we have a common bond as Pebble enthusiasts. “Remember the human.”

It is impossible for Team Pebble and our Community Moderators to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that Pebble does not actively monitor the content of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. Pebble does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and is not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of Pebble or any entity associated with Pebble.

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged use report the post to a Moderator (a list of current moderators will be at the bottom of this post). Pebble has the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if determined that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the Pebble Forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by Pebble.

Although the Pebble Forum does not and cannot review the messages posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we at Pebble reserve the right to edit or delete any message or account. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pebble, Discourse (the makers of the bulletin board software), and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

We at this discussion forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

Pebble reserves the right to change, modify or amend these Forum policies from time to time. If we make any significant changes to this policy, we will post those changes on this web site. Such changes will become effective upon such posting, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
